Interested in Baptism?

Baptism is the first step for those who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior (Acts 2:38). In the same way that a wedding ring signifies an existing intimate relationship, baptism is a picture of what Christ has done for us. Baptism illustrates Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) It shows our new life as a follower of Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

It is a powerful act of obedience that communicates, “I am done with my old life of sin,” and “I am trusting Jesus as I walk in the new life He gave me.” As Paul writes in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ that I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” At West Side we baptize by immersion. That’s the example we see throughout the Bible. In fact, the foundational meaning of the word “baptize,” means to immerse (or dip under) in water. Jesus was baptized (Mark 1:9) and commanded that we be baptized (Matthew 28:19-20).
